Epp Foundation Repair has diagnosed and installed crawl space drainage systems across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri since 1994.
Let's take the first step toward a healthy home.
A local specialist will inspect your foundation, walk you through the findings, and send a clear estimate. no cost, no pressure.
What drainage systems is and when it's the right call.
Epp Foundation Repair starts with a water-source diagnostic during the on-site inspection. Three primary sources show up in regional crawl spaces. First, hydrostatic groundwater. Water table rising above footing level and pushing through wall-floor joints. Gets an interior perimeter drainage system with sump pit and pump. Second, surface water entering at the foundation from poor exterior grading, downspout discharge too close to the wall, or saturated soil from irrigation. Gets an exterior french drain placed 4 to 8 feet out from the foundation, intercepting water before it reaches the wall. Third, severe cases where both sources are active. Typically older homes with high water tables and decades of neglected gutters. Get a combination system: exterior french drain to handle surface water plus interior drainage to handle what still makes it through. The decision matrix is built from the diagnostic, not from a generic estimate.
How we install drainage systems.
Diagnose the Water Source
Epp Foundation Repair inspects the crawl space, the exterior grading, the gutter and downspout layout, and the surrounding landscape to determine where water is entering. Standing water at the perimeter wall during dry weather points to a high water table (interior drainage). Standing water only after rain events with debris staining points to surface water entry (exterior drainage).
Quote the Matched System (Not a Generic One)
Epp Foundation Repair writes the estimate around the actual source. Interior perimeter system, exterior french drain, or combination. Each is a distinct scope, distinct price, and distinct timeline. The homeowner receives a written explanation of which water source was identified and why this drainage type matches it. No upsell.
Install Interior Perimeter Drainage (When Groundwater Is the Source)
Crews excavate a perimeter trench, lay gravel and perforated pipe sloped to a sump pit, install drainage matting at the wall-floor junction, and set a sump pump with discharge to a code-compliant exterior outlet. Typical interior install runs 2 to 4 days depending on crawl size and access. See the crawl space drainage solution page for the full procedure.
"The biggest waste of money I see is a homeowner who paid for an interior drainage system when the actual problem was a downspout dumping 800 gallons of roof water six feet from the foundation. The right answer was a $400 downspout extension and a $2,000 french drain. Not an $8,000 interior system. You have to find the source first."
