Commercial Dehumidifiers Sized for Plains Crawl Space Conditions
Epp Foundation Repair has installed commercial-grade crawl dehumidifiers across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri since 1994.

What dehumidifiers is and when it's the right call.
Epp Foundation Repair calculates the cubic footage of the crawl space and the expected moisture load, then selects a unit rated for low-temperature operation. Typically 70 to 90 pints per day of capacity for a 1,000-to-2,000 square foot crawl. The dehumidifier hangs from floor joists on isolation hangers (or sits on a low platform if joist clearance is too tight) and pulls crawl air through a refrigerated coil. Water condenses on the coil, drains by gravity to a condensate line, and routes to the sump pit or to a code-compliant exterior outlet. The dried air returns to the crawl. The unit runs on a dedicated electrical circuit installed by the homeowner's electrician. Epp Foundation Repair does not pull electrical permits or run circuits. Consumer-grade dehumidifiers sold at hardware stores lose 40 to 60 percent of rated capacity at the 55-to-65 degree temperatures common in crawls, and most fail within 18 to 36 months. Commercial-grade units retain rated capacity at low temperatures and carry 5-to-10 year service expectancy.
How we install dehumidifiers.
Calculate Cubic Footage and Select Unit
Epp Foundation Repair measures the crawl space, accounts for sealed-or-unsealed status, and selects a unit by capacity. A typical 1,200-square-foot sealed crawl at 4-foot average clearance (4,800 cubic feet) needs roughly 70 pints per day; the same crawl unsealed or with active soil exposure jumps to 90 pints per day.
Choose Unit Location and Mounting Method
Most units hang from floor joists using vibration-isolation hangers, keeping the unit off the dirt or barrier and minimizing noise transfer to the living space above. When joist depth or duct routing won't allow hanging, the unit sits on a 4-to-6 inch platform on the vapor barrier.
Install Condensate Drainage Line
Epp Foundation Repair plumbs the condensate output of the dehumidifier with PVC or rigid tubing sloped continuously toward the discharge point. Typically the sump pit, occasionally a code-compliant exterior gravity outlet. The line is supported every 4 feet to prevent sag and freeze; in commercial-grade units a condensate pump is used if no gravity path exists.
"Every spring I get calls from homeowners who put a $400 hardware-store dehumidifier under the house two summers ago. It's already dead. The unit was rated at 80 degrees, and the crawl sits at 58 degrees. The math never worked. A commercial unit costs more upfront but it actually does the job in our climate."

Crawl Space Access Well
Epp Foundation Repair installs below-grade access wells that keep your crawl space entrance from collecting water, soil, and debris. A clean opening makes inspections, repairs, and routine checks far easier.
Learn moreProprietary Solutions
Not every crawl space needs the same parts. Epp Foundation Repair installs engineered, brand-name systems for encapsulation, drainage, and support, then matches the pieces to what your crawl space actually has wrong. The point is the right system, not the fanciest label.
Learn moreControlling Moisture

Learn moreCrawl Space Doors
An encapsulated crawl space is only as tight as its access point. Epp Foundation Repair installs sealed, insulated access doors that close off the entry where moisture, pests, and cold air sneak back in.

Epp Foundation Repair has built crawl space drainage systems across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri since 1994.
Learn moreCrawl Space Jacks
Bouncy, sloping floors usually trace back to overspanned or weakened framing in the crawl space below. Epp Foundation Repair sets adjustable steel jacks on engineered footings to carry the load and stop the movement. Our goal is permanent stabilization, with some lift possible depending on conditions.
